Interesting Question

Here is a problem that has been bouncing around in my head for some time now:

Algebraically determine the local maximum of {\Large y=x^3-3x^2}

This problem is thoroughly routine for first-semester calculus students. But the reason why I find this problem so interesting is that it can be done without calculus. Through this approach, it takes you on a nice tour of precalculus topics.
